Baking Soda and Vinegar: In the Home and Garden

About Me

Baking Soda and Vinegar: In the Home and Garden

Like many of us, I like to keep a clean house. Cleaning my kitchen and bathroom sinks, counter tops and vanities once presented a challenge. How so? I refuse to use harsh chemicals, mainly because of my children's allergies and asthma. I also prefer an environmentally-friendly cleaning solution. I've found all this and more, by cleaning with a homemade paste I make from baking soda and vinegar. This all-natural cleaning solution removes most of my everyday stains and grime with ease. I just scour the surface with a scrubby-type sponge and it's a breeze. In addition to kitchen and bathroom surfaces, I use baking soda and vinegar cleaning paste on my parrot's cage. There are no harsh chemicals or fumes, so it's also perfect for cleaning the toddler's room. Try the same solution diluted with a bit of water to kill your garden weeds. You'll be amazed!

3 Excellent Uses For Sand In Your Yard

Including sand in your yard is an excellent idea. Not only is sand soft on the feet and easy to maintain, but it is also great for a variety of activities. If you are considering purchasing some sand for your landscape design, but aren't exactly sure how you want to use it, this article will help you out. It will discuss 3 excellent uses for sand in your yard, and how they will provide you and your family with a great deal of fun.

A Sandbox

If you have young children, then creating a sandbox in your backyard is an excellent idea. To create your sandbox, you will want to start off by creating a box shape on the ground using 4 pieces of thick wood. You will then want to use several layers of thick black plastic to put at the bottom of the box. This plastic will stop the weeds from growing in through the sand and making it unusable. The last step is simply going to be to dump the correct amount of sand into the box, and rake it out so that it is even. If you purchase some fun sand toys for your children and their friends to use, they will have a wonderful time playing in the sandbox for hours.

A Volleyball Pit

Another great area in your yard to create of out of sand is a  volleyball bit. To create your volleyball pit, you will first want to completely till an area of your yard. Once the is done, you will dig out some of the dirt so that it is a small pit in your yard. Once the pit has been dug, you will want to use cement to put the poles of the volleyball net securely in place. You will then want to place some landscaping fabric over all of the dirt, so that the weeds will not grow through the sand. From there you can pour in the sand for your volleyball pit. This is a wonderful location to spent time as a family because you all will have so much fun playing volleyball games against each other.

Surrounding A Playground

If you have a fun playground area in your backyard for your kids or grandkids, then sand from a place like Burien Bark LLC is great to use in this area. Sand is softer to land on than wood chips, and it is soft and comfortable on bare feet. Sand is also great for this area because you won't have to worry about all of the constant running and playing harming the sand in anyway, like you would grass. Installing the sand in this area is almost identical to how you install sand for a volleyball pit, expect you won't need to dig a pit first.
