Baking Soda and Vinegar: In the Home and Garden

About Me

Baking Soda and Vinegar: In the Home and Garden

Like many of us, I like to keep a clean house. Cleaning my kitchen and bathroom sinks, counter tops and vanities once presented a challenge. How so? I refuse to use harsh chemicals, mainly because of my children's allergies and asthma. I also prefer an environmentally-friendly cleaning solution. I've found all this and more, by cleaning with a homemade paste I make from baking soda and vinegar. This all-natural cleaning solution removes most of my everyday stains and grime with ease. I just scour the surface with a scrubby-type sponge and it's a breeze. In addition to kitchen and bathroom surfaces, I use baking soda and vinegar cleaning paste on my parrot's cage. There are no harsh chemicals or fumes, so it's also perfect for cleaning the toddler's room. Try the same solution diluted with a bit of water to kill your garden weeds. You'll be amazed!

Choosing Window Coverings For Your New Home? 3 Reasons You Should Choose Blinds

If you're in the process of choosing window coverings for your new home, you owe it to yourself to consider blinds. If you don't like the idea of using window blinds by themselves, you can pair them with curtains or drapes. To help you make your mind up, here are three simple reasons why you should say yes to window blinds for your home.

They're Versatile

One of the great things about window blinds is that they're incredibly versatile. Regardless of design style you're decorating your home with, you'll be able to find blinds that will fit perfectly.

Color

Blinds don't just come in white and beige anymore. Today's modern blinds are available in just about any color you would choose for your home.

Style

When it comes to styles, you have several to choose from, including those with vertical or horizontal slats. Whether you're covering a small window, a sliding glass door, or an entire picture window, you'll find the style that will suit your needs.

Material

You don't have to choose the traditional PVC material for your blinds. You can choose from materials such as metal, cloth, and even natural wood.

They'll Provide Increased Privacy

If you're concerned about your privacy, blinds will provide you with the added privacy you want and need. You can leave your blinds open during the day to bring in the natural light. Once the sun begins to set, you can close your blinds, which will prevent prying eyes from looking into your home. One of the benefits of using blinds for added security is that you don't have to go to the trouble of closing your curtains. You can leave your curtains open and still maintain your privacy.

They're Easy to Keep Clean

If you're looking for window coverings that are easy to clean, you'll want to look at window blinds. Unlike curtains that will need to be taken down and laundered, blinds can be cleaned easily with a can of compressed air, a vacuum and a clean, damp cloth. To keep the dust away, simply give your blinds a blast of compressed air once or twice a week. For deeper cleaning, use a vacuum to get into the hard to reach areas that need some additional suction to get clean. Once a month, simply use a damp cloth to wipe your blinds off.

Now that you're choosing window coverings for your new home, don't forget about blinds. They'll give you the versatility, privacy and ease-of-cleaning you're looking for. For more information, contact a business such as Spotless Shade & Blind CO.
